I am a potter. Pottery is an ancient art form
and its visual language is shaped by tradition.
This tradition manifested itself through
vessel forms – the bowl, the pitcher, the cup,
the vase – thousands of years ago and it
continues to do so to this day.
Artists of all eras and nationalities have spoken
this language in varying dialects, according to
the prevailing needs and aesthetic values of
their time and place. I am very happy to belong
to this universal tradition and to add my
personal voice to its continuance.
I would like my pots to be beautiful, serene,
pleasant to touch, and comforting in use.
I would like them to call us to quiet delight
and contemplation. In this way our eyes could constantly rest on objects of beauty in our daily
lives and, being surrounded by beauty in our
homes, we would search and find it everywhere.
